Hyderabad graduate’s job hunt ends in suicide in Texas, family raises funds for repatriation
A young man from Hyderabad who held a U.S. master’s degree died by suicide in San Antonio after months of unemployment.
Sai Pradeep, a Hyderabad native who completed a master’s in computer science at Anderson University’s College of Business in South Carolina, was found dead in San Antonio, Texas, on Aug 21, with authorities indicating suicide. According to family members and social-media posts, he had been searching for employment for several months without success, which left him feeling dejected and under financial pressure. During his time in the U.S., he quickly learned Spanish, impressing his peers.
His cousin Deepthi created a GoFundMe page, describing him as “Deepu” and highlighting his kindness and determination, to fund the repatriation of his remains to Dammaiguda and cover funeral costs. The campaign had raised more than USD 27,000 of its USD 35,000 target, with any surplus earmarked for his parents’ future needs. Friends recalled his prior work experience at Amazon in Hyderabad and remembered him as respectful and good-hearted.
