Hyperliquid Strategies steals spotlight at elite SALT crypto summit in Wyoming

At the SALT conference in Jackson Hole, Hyperliquid Strategies CEO David Schamis impressed attendees, highlighting the firm’s rapid growth and plans for a regulated U.S. presence.

The SALT conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, once again gathered the crypto world’s most powerful players, from Binance’s Changpeng Zhao to former governor Andrew Cuomo, now an OKX representative. Reporting from the event, observers noted that Hyperliquid Strategies, led by CEO David Schamis, captured considerable attention despite its relative obscurity. Schamis, a veteran of Salomon Brothers, outlined how the firm’s publicly traded vehicle has driven the HYPE token’s value upward while the underlying DeFi platform dominates perpetual futures trading and funds token burns.

The company, which began trading under the ticker PURR in December, has attracted traditional commodities traders who use its platform for oil and other asset contracts. While its operations have largely been offshore, Schamis announced a push toward a regulated U.S. foothold, a move bolstered by backing from Donald Trump and the chairman of the CFTC. Legal counsel Jake Chervinsky is also involved, aiming to shape a U.S. legal framework for DeFi. Industry insiders see Hyperliquid as a potential challenger to established exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken and Robinhood.

Why it matters

Hyperliquid’s push for a regulated U.S. presence could reshape competition in the crypto exchange market.
