HyperX debuts its first open-back gaming headset, the Cloud Alpha Air
HyperX has launched the $150 Cloud Alpha Air, its inaugural open-back gaming headset featuring plush earpads and a bass-enhancing tube.
HyperX entered the open-back segment with the Cloud Alpha Air, priced at $150 and equipped with soft foam earpads and a Bass Tube designed to preserve deep bass response. The headset’s 40 mm drivers and 34 ohm impedance aim to match the low-end impact of closed-back cans, helping gamers detect in-game cues such as footsteps and explosions. It includes a volume wheel, mute button, and a detachable microphone, while the metallic grille hides the drivers beneath a red finish.
The package supplies a 3.5 mm cable, a USB-A/C adapter, an extension cord with separate mic and audio jacks, and a drawstring travel bag. Sound profiles can be tweaked through the free NGENUITY app, though the 3.5 mm connection may feel slightly quiet without the USB adapter. Currently only available as a wired model, HyperX declined to comment on any upcoming wireless version. Alongside the headset, the company also released new colorways for existing headsets and introduced lightweight gaming mice ranging from $40 to $130.
