Internal testing indicated the component failed to meet required specifications, meaning the belt might not engage correctly in an accident, raising the risk of injury or death. Until replacement parts are produced, Hyundai urges owners to avoid seating passengers in the middle rear seat.
The automaker will notify owners in writing when the parts arrive and arrange free repairs at authorized dealerships. A VIN list and the original recall notice have been provided for reference. In the meantime, owners can call Hyundai Customer Care at 1800 186 306 for assistance.
