Hyundai rolls out larger, boxier fifth-generation Tucson with AI infotainment
Hyundai unveiled the fifth-generation Tucson, a bigger, more angular SUV featuring a new hybrid powertrain and AI-driven infotainment, ahead of its October market debut.
Hyundai Motor introduced the fifth-generation Tucson, the first full redesign of its flagship compact SUV in six years, at a Paju media briefing. The model adopts a larger, more boxy silhouette under Hyundai's new "Art of Steel" design language, extending the length by 60 mm, width by 40 mm, and wheelbase by 30 mm. Powertrain options comprise a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 193 metric horsepower and a next-generation hybrid system that reaches 245 metric horsepower while achieving 17.4 km per liter.
The cabin features Hyundai's Pleos Connect infotainment system with optional 17-inch or 12.9-inch screens and the generative Gleo AI assistant for voice-based queries and services. Safety upgrades include pedal-misapplication assistance and backup power for door unlocking after a crash. An XRT trim adds rugged exterior cues such as a distinctive grille and skid plates. Hyundai plans to reveal pricing and begin domestic sales in October.
