IAF claims record 314 km missile kill of Pakistani aircraft in Operation Sindoor

India's defence ministry annual report for 2025-26 documents a record-breaking surface-to-air engagement in which an IAF S-400 unit shot down a Pakistani special-mission aircraft from a distance of 314 km during Operation Sindoor. According to the report, Indian radars tracked the threat silently and the missile was guided to its far boundary, showcasing the IAF's extended reach. The operation also involved precision strikes on Pakistani air-base sites such as Nur Khan and Rahimyar Khan, and a layered defence grid that combined the indigenous Akash system with Russian-origin Pechora and OSA-AK missiles.

The integrated air command and control system enabled real-time coordination against retaliatory drone attacks. Following Director Generals of Military Operations talks on May 10 and 12, 2025, the Line of Control situation largely stabilised, though infiltration attempts moved toward the international border, resulting in twelve Pakistani terrorists being neutralised. Ceasefire violations fell sharply compared with the previous year.
