IAS officer Mandeep Bhandari appointed CBSE chairman amid OSM controversy
Mandeep Bhandari, a 2001-batch IAS officer serving as Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has been named chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education after a recent bureaucratic reshuffle.
Senior IAS officer Mandeep K Bhandari, currently Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education. The decision was issued by the Ministry of Personnel and approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet as part of a broader bureaucratic reshuffle. The move comes after CBSE faced a wave of criticism regarding alleged irregularities in its On-Screen Marking platform used to assess Class 12 answer scripts.
Following a probe, the previous chairman Rahul Singh and secretary Himanshu Gupta were transferred on June 2, with Prashant Lokhande temporarily taking over. Bhandari's elevation is intended to restore confidence in the board's examination processes.
