ICAC hearing resumes with new testimony linking donors to Liberal Party funding breaches
The ICAC has called fresh witnesses as it investigates alleged illegal donations to the Liberal Party.
In the latest round of Operation Rosny, the Independent Commission Against Corruption has scheduled witness statements from Jean Nassif and former Strathfield mayor Matthew Blackmore. The commission's broad probe focuses on three sets of allegations, beginning with claims that Christian Ellis, Jeremy Greenwood, Robert Assaf and Jean-Claude Perrottet solicited or accepted prohibited political donations between 2019 and 2023.
It also scrutinises payments arranged by Catholic Schools New South Wales under CEO Dallas McInerney, as well as contributions from hotelier Michael O’Hara, all purportedly intended to bolster Liberal Party membership. The alleged donations were not declared and allegedly breached contribution caps, raising possible offences under the Electoral Funding Act. The hearing aims to determine whether these actions constitute corruption and to assess the extent of any wrongdoing.
