ICC Deputy Prosecutor Confirms No Action on Netanyahu Arrest Warrants Amid US Pressure

In a weekend interview, ICC Deputy Prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan affirmed that the court has not acted to cancel any arrest warrant applications or the warrants themselves concerning Israeli officials. The warrants, issued in November 2024, target Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza since October 2023. Khan emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.
The United States has responded by sanctioning a number of ICC senior figures, such as former chief prosecutor Karim Khan, two deputy prosecutors, and nine judges, including the court's president. Despite this mounting pressure, the ICC says its case continues unabated.
