ICE and partners arrest 500 migrants in Florida, including murder suspect and cartel affiliate
A weeklong ICE-led sweep in Southwest Florida resulted in 500 arrests, capturing individuals charged with crimes ranging from murder to drug possession.
From August 24 to 27, ICE worked alongside the Florida Highway Patrol, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida National Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in a coordinated sweep across Southwest Florida. The operation led to 500 arrests of illegal-alien individuals with a variety of criminal allegations, including a Haitian suspect charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, sexual battery and burglary after a violent home invasion in Lehigh Acres.
Authorities also apprehended a Honduran accused of molesting two children and a Mexican national linked to a cartel. Several Guatemalan and Honduran detainees were charged with offenses such as obstructing officers, resisting arrest, DUI, hit-and-run and repeated illegal re-entries following prior deportations. ICE officials highlighted the collaboration as evidence of a “whole-of-government” approach to public safety.
