ICE files detainer for Miami influencer charged with child abuse and arson
ICE has placed a detainer on Meliza Campos-Sanchez, a Miami-based influencer arrested on child abuse, neglect and arson charges after posting videos of violent acts.
Meliza Campos-Sanchez, a 26-year-old Cuban migrant who arrived in Florida in May 2022, was arrested in Miami on charges of child neglect, child abuse and arson after investigators linked her to disturbing online videos. The clips depict her pouring hot wax from a lit candle onto her chest and onto one of her two daughters, then igniting a pile of clothing. Fire crews responded to a blaze at her residence on Aug. 16, which investigators later determined was intentional.
ICE has filed a detainer, asking Miami authorities to hold her for up to 48 hours after her scheduled release so federal agents can take custody. A Homeland Security spokesperson emphasized that the detainer is part of a broader effort to keep the suspect in custody while she faces criminal justice proceedings.
