ICE raid at Memphis bar detains roughly 100 patrons in late-night operation

Immigration and Customs Enforcement carried out a surprise, multi-agency enforcement action at the El Corralón bar on Macon Road in Memphis's Berclair neighborhood, detaining approximately 100 patrons. The agency said a search warrant tied to probes of illegal gambling and drug activity authorized the raid, which began late on Saturday and extended into Sunday. Onlookers recorded several vans arriving and loading individuals for transport.

City officials and police representatives clarified that Memphis Police were summoned solely for traffic management after the raid started and did not participate in its planning or execution. Mayor Paul Young expressed concern for the community, emphasizing that those affected are local neighbors who deserve respectful treatment.
