ICE removes multiple gang-affiliated illegal immigrants with violent criminal histories
ICE deported several illegal-status gang members who had been convicted of serious offenses such as attempted murder, burglary and vehicle theft.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the deportation of a group of illegal-status gang affiliates, emphasizing their prior convictions for violent and property crimes. Surenos member Eddy Ely Lopez, a Mexican national, had been sentenced for attempted murder, use of a firearm in a felony, gang activity and drug possession while incarcerated. MS-13 member Marco Obdulio Sarmiento Crispin from Guatemala had been arrested for murder, drug possession and vehicle theft, while Paisas affiliate Candelario Gomez-Vasquez faced convictions for drunk driving, robbery, resisting an officer and illegal re-entry.
Crips member Julian Patino Espinoza, also from Mexico, was previously convicted of burglary, larceny and illegal re-entry, and Latin Kings member Cristian Adonay Melgar-Cermeno was deported after convictions for drunk driving, burglary and obstructing police. The removals were presented as part of ICE’s effort to enhance community safety.
