ICE reports over 2,000 terrorist deportations since Trump assumed office

ICE says it has deported more than 2,000 known or suspected terrorists from the United States since President Donald Trump took office in January 2025, as the nation nears the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The Department of Homeland Security announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has deported 2,015 individuals identified as known or suspected terrorists since President Donald Trump assumed office in January 2025, with more than 2,150 arrests recorded through September 9 2026. Secretary Markwayne Mullin presented the figures as proof of ICE’s ongoing duty to protect the homeland as the country prepares to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Among the recent operations, federal agents detained Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, a Mexican citizen described as the alleged mastermind of a plot targeting a UFC event at the White House, after he overstayed a visa that expired in 2001 and later received DACA status. ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations also captured Felipe Linares De Oliveira Dell Aquilla, a Brazilian who formerly commanded two designated terrorist organizations, seizing a handgun, cash and electronics after a chase in North Carolina; he is wanted in Brazil for criminal association and extortion and is accused of holding his wife hostage.

Additionally, four Venezuelan members of the gang Tren de Aragua pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a 2024 Bronx shooting that killed two people, having entered the United States illegally in 2022-2023. The announcement underscores the agency’s focus on preventing further large-scale attacks on U.S. soil.
