IDF and Shin Bet raise alert over possible Hamas kidnapping plot in Gaza
Israeli military and security services have heightened readiness after intelligence suggested Hamas may try to abduct a soldier in the Gaza Strip.
Intelligence reports indicated that Hamas could attempt to seize an Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip, prompting the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet to move to a higher alert level for the territorial and 99th divisions operating there. Commanders at all levels received orders to stay within the area and to conduct continuous readiness checks and drills. The forces now man 40 outposts inside the “Yellow Line” and an additional 10 outposts outside the security fence, where patrols have been intensified.
Defensive positions are being re-inspected and stricter controls on troop movement have been imposed to avoid exposure. These measures aim to deter or quickly respond to any kidnapping attempt by Hamas militants.
