IDF eliminates two senior Islamic Jihad commanders in Gaza strikes
The Israel Defense Forces said it killed two Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives - a rocket-unit commander and an anti-tank missile chief - in separate Gaza City attacks.
On Saturday the Israel Defense Forces announced the deaths of two Palestinian Islamic Jihad figures in Gaza City. Ahmed Mahmoud Harb Ramlawi, identified as a commander of the Shejaiya Battalion’s rocket array, and Munir Ibrahim Masr, the head of an anti-tank missile cell, were each hit in separate operations. The military said both had been active in restoring the group’s operational capacity, breaching one outlet cease-fire.
The statement also referenced earlier killings this week, including a Hamas sniper in Khan Yunis and a senior Hamas commander, Izz al-Din Bikh, who oversaw hostage-taking during the Oct. 7 attacks. Arab media cited an IDF attempt to strike Ali al-Amoudi, a senior Hamas political bureau member, but Israel offered no confirmation. Israeli forces said they remain deployed in Gaza to neutralise any immediate threats.
Why it matters
The strikes show Israel’s ongoing effort to dismantle senior militant leaders amid the Gaza conflict.
