IDF imposes two-day ban on Palestinian workers entering West Bank communities

The Israel Defense Forces announced a two-day restriction on Palestinian laborers entering Israeli settlements in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley, with industrial zones exempted.

Starting Sunday, the IDF will block Palestinian workers from entering Israeli communities across Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley for two days, while allowing access to designated industrial zones. The political leadership also approved a broader ban on Palestinian worker movement throughout the territories on Election Day, October 27, and will close all land crossings between the West Bank and Israel. The measures follow a security assessment after two IDF soldiers were killed in a Hebron-area terrorist attack on Friday.

Why it matters

The bans tighten movement controls in the West Bank, affecting labor flows and heightening tensions ahead of Israel's elections.
