IDF Tracker Returns Fire, Wounding Hamas Gunman and Saving Victim’s Son at Spring

Investigators revealed that Hamas operative Qadri Samara had passed the Ein Riya spring in the Binyamin region the day before carrying out the fatal attack on Netanel Shakron, who was killed while his 16-year-old son survived uninjured. On the eve of Yom Kippur, Samara arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on Shakron’s car near Neve Tzuf. A Binyamin Brigade tracker traveling in an armored vehicle returned fire, wounding the terrorist and preventing further shots, which saved the teenager inside the vehicle.

After being wounded, Samara sought medical care at a clinic in Ramallah, where Duvdevan commandos located and arrested him. Israeli forces also raided the town of Bidu, detaining dozens of residents. The incident prompted National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to raise the death-penalty question, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeking clarification from IDF officials.
