IEA taps 330 million barrels of emergency oil stockpiles amid Iran conflict
The International Energy Agency confirmed that about 330 million barrels of emergency oil reserves have been released to offset supply disruptions linked to the US-Israeli war on Iran.
Member nations are drawing on a pre-agreed emergency pool after the US-Israeli conflict with Iran threatened oil flows. The IEA said the release totals roughly 330 million barrels, adding to earlier disbursements reported this month. The move follows a March pact that allowed up to 400 million barrels to be tapped. IEA executive director Fatih Birol had previously noted that around 325 million barrels had already been made available.
Why it matters
Releasing the reserves helps stabilize global oil markets amid conflict-driven supply risks.
