IHH Healthcare CEO Prem Kumar Nair charts a preventive-care push for aging Asia
Prem Kumar Nair says IHH Healthcare is expanding a clinical-focused longevity program called Healthspan and building community clinics to meet Asia’s growing elderly population.
Facing an increasingly affluent and aging Asian demographic, IHH Healthcare’s CEO Prem Kumar Nair warned that longer lives do not automatically mean healthier ones. To counter rising rates of diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, IHH introduced Healthspan, a preventive-health initiative that relies on clinical measures such as resistance training for sarcopenia and GLP-1 medications to curb obesity-related ailments.
The program, currently limited to Singapore, is slated for expansion across IHH’s nine other markets, including India, Turkey and Greater China. Parallel to this, the group is rolling out small-scale ambulatory care sites—exemplified by the Parkway MediCentre in Singapore’s Woodleigh district—to provide chronic-disease management and specialist consultations without hospital admission. Nair emphasized a strategic pivot toward organic growth, AI-enabled solutions like NurseShift.ai, and investments in cancer genomics and precision medicine, positioning IHH as a healthcare-ecosystem player rather than a traditional hospital operator.
