IHH Healthcare's unit appeals Japanese court dismissal of Daiichi Sankyo damages claim

IHH Healthcare announced that its subsidiary will appeal the recent Tokyo court decision that threw out its damages lawsuit against Daiichi Sankyo concerning the acquisition of a share in India's Fortis Healthcare. The court, on September 10, dismissed NTK's claims and assigned litigation costs to the unit. NTK had originally filed a petition in May 2025 seeking up to 109.3 billion Indian rupees in damages.

IHH stated that the case warrants review by a higher court and has exercised its right to appeal. While neither Fortis nor Daiichi Sankyo responded to inquiries, IHH confirmed it intends to increase its Fortis holding to 51% over the next three to five years and to further integrate Fortis with its Gleneagles operations. The appeal could influence a potential $1.14 billion liability and IHH's broader expansion strategy in India.
