IJM Corp appoints former KPMG Malaysia leader Johan Idris as board chairman

IJM Corp Bhd has named Datuk Johan Idris as its new independent non-executive director and chairman, succeeding the retiring Tan Sri Datuk Krishnan Tan.

IJM Corp Bhd announced that Datuk Johan Idris will serve as an independent non-executive director and chair of its board, effective today. The appointment comes after Tan Sri Datuk Krishnan Tan stepped down at the company's 42nd annual general meeting. Lee Teck Yuen, who filled the chairmanship after Krishnan's retirement, has been reassigned to a non-executive director position.

Idris, who led KPMG Malaysia as managing partner from 2014 to 2024, highlighted IJM's strong business portfolio and strategic direction. He also noted his commitment to robust governance and long-term stakeholder value. In addition to his KPMG role, Idris currently chairs Maxis Bhd and holds board seats at KLCC Property Holdings Bhd and KLCC Real Estate Investment Trust.

Why it matters

The leadership shift could influence IJM's governance and strategic direction in Malaysia's construction sector.
