Ikmal accuses Khaled of misleading Parliament over LCS cost increase
Ikmal says Khaled's claim linking the LCS cost rise to a previous government is false and harms his reputation, urging a correction in Parliament.
In the House of Representatives, Ikmal contested Khaled's assertion that the escalation of the LCS project cost was tied to the previous administration, a claim he labeled inaccurate and damaging to his image. He clarified that the cost increase and reduction of ships from six to five were approved by the present unity government under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during a cabinet meeting on 19 April 2023. Ikmal urged Khaled to withdraw the statement and pressed the Defence Ministry to correct the official Hansard. Deputy Speaker Doris Sophia Brodi responded by asking Ikmal to present a motion to Speaker Johari Abdul for a decision on the matter.
