The Ilfov Tribunal has issued a definitive ruling to release Omar Hayssam on parole, despite his 24-year terrorism sentence.
On Friday, the Ilfov Tribunal confirmed the conditional release of Syrian national Omar Hayssam. He had been sentenced in 2015 to 24 years and four months for terrorism related to the 2005 kidnapping of three Romanian journalists in Baghdad. The court’s decision is final and cannot be appealed. Hayssam had previously escaped Romania after a brief release for terminal cancer in 2006.
