Illinois basketball secured a third confirmed five-star recruit for the 2027 class when top-20 prospect Moussa Kamissoko scheduled an official visit to Champaign, adding to the Illini's recruiting momentum. The team's non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season is now set, featuring five high-profile opponents and six programs that reached last season's NCAA Tournament, such as Duke, UConn, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Baylor and Missouri.
In football, senior defensive back and team captain Matthew Bailey was named to the 2026 Chuck Bednarik Award watch list, joining 90 other players under consideration for the nation's top defensive honor. Soccer recorded its inaugural victory of the year with a 2-1 comeback over Cincinnati and will face UIC at Demirjian Park on Sunday.
