Nurses worked through the night to manage the swelling, and doctors later confirmed his sensitivity to pokeweed. Upon release, the family received an EpiPen and eight prescribed medicines to control future symptoms. Health officials note that every part of pokeweed can irritate skin or be fatal if ingested, underscoring the need for public awareness.
