Illinois mother charged with first-degree murder after toddler found dead in Frankfort home

Police responded to a Frankford, Illinois residence after a neighbor reported a 2-year‑year‑old boy unresponsive in the house. Officers found the child hanging from a cord in the basement and later pronounced him dead at a hospital. The child's mother, Corie Walsh, 40, was discovered in the bathtub with self‑inflicted knife wounds and was taken to a hospital for non‑life‑threatening injuries. Walsh told investigators she believed the child was “the anti‑Christ” and she had been discussing the Lindsay Clancy murder trial in a group text shortly before the incident. She has been charged with first‑degree murder.
