Illinois signs $30 million Busey Bank partnership covering jersey patches and executive perks

The University of Illinois entered a five-year, $30 million sponsorship with Busey Bank that includes jersey patches, exclusive branding and executive travel benefits.

A newly disclosed contract shows the University of Illinois has secured a five-year sponsorship with Busey Bank valued at $30 million, beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2031. Under the deal, Illinois receives $5 million annually and a one-time $5 million signing bonus, while Busey Bank obtains exclusive jersey-patch rights for football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball and golf, as well as the title of official financial services partner.

The partnership grants the bank extensive in-venue, digital and broadcast advertising, designated ticket blocks and luxury suite access for several sports. Additionally, Busey executives may travel with the team to one Big Ten road game per sport each year, and the bank will offer two compensated career-pipeline positions to athletes annually. The contract also outlines exclusivity clauses preventing Illinois from partnering with competing financial firms, though players can still pursue independent NIL deals. No comments were received from representatives of the university, Learfield or Busey Bank.
