Iloilo water provider readies infrastructure to offset super El Niño shortage
Metro Pacific Iloilo Water is stepping up measures to counter a projected “super” El Niño that could cut its supply to about 50 MLD.
The utility, which normally receives roughly 81 MLD from two bulk suppliers, expects a worst-case drop to 50 MLD during the December-March El Niño season. To mitigate the shortfall, MPIW is accelerating infrastructure upgrades and launching leak-reduction programmes. Officials say these actions aim to preserve water availability for Iloilo City and surrounding municipalities.
