Immigration officers detain 52 foreign workers in early-morning raids across Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur immigration forces arrested 52 foreigners during pre-dawn raids on seven entertainment venues in the Dang Wangi district.
In a coordinated sweep dubbed Op Gegar, Kuala Lumpur immigration officers launched raids at 1.30 am on seven entertainment establishments in the Dang Wangi area. The operation deployed 74 immigration staff together with 18 officers from the department's Special Tactical Force (Pastak). After checking 170 people, officials detained 52 foreign nationals—23 men and 29 women—on accusations ranging from missing travel documents to overstaying visas.
Five Form 29 notices were served to the premises' representatives to aid the investigation. All arrested individuals were moved to the Bukit Jalil immigration depot for documentation and further inquiry. Kuala Lumpur Immigration director Datuk Hamsha Injau said enforcement actions will be stepped up to ensure compliance with immigration law.
