Immigration officers seize 68 foreign workers in Kuala Lumpur nightclub raid
Immigration officials detained 68 foreigners, including 47 Thai women working as guest relations officers, during a midnight raid on a Jalan Ampang nightclub.
In a midnight sweep under Ops Gegar, immigration officers raided a nightclub on Jalan Ampang, detaining 68 foreign nationals. The team, led by Immigration director Datuk Hamsha Injau, screened 113 individuals and engaged in a brief scuffle with the club's security staff before taking control. Among those arrested were 47 Thai women employed as guest relations officers, who reportedly earned commissions ranging from RM100 to RM3,000 per night, alongside seven Thai men and 14 Bangladeshi men.
Most had entered Malaysia on social visit passes but were engaged in prohibited entertainment activities, and several held construction or cleaning passes while working at the venue. The operation followed public complaints, inter-agency intelligence and two months of surveillance. Detainees, aged 20 to 55, were transferred to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot, and five local individuals were issued witness summonses to aid the investigation.
