Impeachment trial reveals Vice President Sara Duterte’s stake in Davao Jollibee franchises
During the impeachment hearing, receipts showed that Gencorp Industries, linked to Vice President Sara Duterte, owns at least five Jollibee outlets in Davao City, prompting conflict-of-interest concerns.
In the October 9 impeachment proceeding, prosecutors presented receipts confirming that Gencorp Industries Inc. operates at least five Jollibee branches across Davao City, including sites at Centerpoint Plaza Matina Crossing and Bolton Street. Vice President Sara Duterte listed a stake in Gencorp on her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth, but corporate records do not show her as a shareholder. Financial forensic analyst Alexander Cabrera testified that franchise costs range from P35 million to P50 million and estimated that Duterte’s undeclared wealth totals P817 million, with P212.6 million attributed to Gencorp income. The timing of Gencorp’s lucrative contracts with the Davao City government coincides with Duterte’s rise to the vice presidency and her brother Sebastian’s mayoral term, prompting allegations of a conflict of interest and possible constitutional breaches.
