Improvised explosive device kills child, injures five in Isabela village

An alleged IED exploded in Sitio Raniag, Barangay Sinamar, killing an 8-year-old boy and wounding five others, including an 85-year-old grandmother.

Authorities say an improvised explosive device detonated on Sunday morning in the rural community of Sitio Raniag, Barangay Sinamar, Isabela. The blast claimed the life of an 8-year-old Grade 3 student and injured five residents, among them his 85-year-old grandmother and three other minors. Victims were transported to Manuel A. Roxas District Hospital for treatment. Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion before seeing the injured on the ground.
