Imre Komjáthi elected new president of Hungary's MSZP party

Imre Komjáthi secured the presidency of the MSZP with 318 votes, defeating Gábor Lovasi in an online ballot that ran from September 28 to October 2.

The MSZP announced that Imre Komjáthi received 318 votes, winning the party's top post. His opponent, Gábor Lovasi, obtained 116 votes. This marks the first time the party has conducted a fully online election where every member could vote directly. Komjáthi, who previously served as interim leader, will hold the position until 2028. The party's national leadership will be chosen at the upcoming 17th Congress for a two-year term.
