Independent candidate Aaron Day threatens third-party run to derail New Hampshire Senate race

Independent Aaron Day, who previously earned about 18,000 votes in a 2016 Senate bid, says he is close to securing enough signatures to appear on the New Hampshire ballot this November. He told one outlet that he will withdraw only if the Trump administration makes substantial moves on four issues: releasing crypto prisoners, stopping the CLARITY Act, removing Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and ending the military draft, giving the administration roughly ten days to act.

Failing that, Day intends to run as a third-party candidate, a move he believes would prevent Republican John Sununu, who has Trump’s endorsement, from winning. The campaign faces a pending court decision after the state challenged his candidacy over residency and registration questions. Day argues his goal is to force major parties to keep their promises, not simply to defeat Sununu, and he sees the strategy as a template for future elections.
