India and Armenia sign defence cooperation pact during secretary's Yerevan visit
India's defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Armenia's minister of high-tech industry Davit Tadevosyan signed an MoU in Yerevan to deepen joint defence research, development and production.
On a diplomatic mission to Armenia, defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with minister of high-tech industry Davit Tadevosyan in Yerevan and together they signed a memorandum of understanding to boost cooperation in defence research, development, innovation and joint production. The agreement follows recent high-level exchanges, including a prior visit by an Armenian military delegation to New Delhi. Singh also visited the Armenian Military Academy, inspected an IT laboratory established with Indian support, and was briefed on Indian-provided weapon systems.
He highlighted ongoing efforts in capacity building, training and broader collaboration. A day earlier, Singh had discussions with defence minister Suren Papikyan, reiterating India's commitment to deepen defence ties. Armenia has become India's largest defence export customer, with procurement plans nearing $2 billion for indigenous hardware.
Why it matters
