India and Norway deepen green partnership while expanding trade and Arctic ties
India and Norway met in New Delhi to strengthen their Green Strategic Partnership, discuss EFTA trade links and cooperation in fisheries and the Arctic.
In New Delhi, Secretary (West) Sibi George received Astrid Bergmal, State Secretary of Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to advance the India-Norway Green Strategic Partnership. The dialogue emphasized enhancing trade and investment through the European Free Trade Association, as well as joint initiatives in fisheries and Arctic cooperation. This discussion built on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Norway, during which the partnership was formally upgraded.
Concurrently, George met Austria’s National Security Advisor Peter Vorhofer, focusing on deepening security and strategic collaboration, including counter-terrorism measures. Both meetings highlighted multilateral cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest. The engagements signal a broader push by India to link environmental, economic and security agendas with European partners.
