India and OPEC stress ongoing talks to secure stable energy supplies

During the seventh high-level OPEC-India Energy Dialogue, Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized that ongoing dialogue between oil-producing nations and consuming countries is vital for attracting investment and safeguarding energy resilience. Co-chairing the session with OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais, he linked the discussion to recent disruptions caused by the West Asia war and the resulting strain on oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, which has pushed Brent crude above $100 per barrel.

Participants reviewed short-, medium- and long-term market forecasts, underscoring India's pivotal role in future global energy demand. Puri reiterated the mutually beneficial ties between India and OPEC, commending the organization’s efforts to foster stability and transparency. He urged both parties to work closely to create a predictable and balanced energy market, aligning India’s priorities with OPEC’s objectives.
