India and US Near Breakthrough in Trade Negotiations, Says Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said the India-US trade talks are far advanced and approaching a final agreement.
At the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar described the India-US trade talks as "pretty far advanced" and moving toward a landing point. He highlighted that the final terms will be judged against the deals Washington makes with competing economies, emphasizing the broader context of US tariff policy aimed at reindustrialisation. While the US Trade Representative and India's Commerce and Industry Ministry continue to resolve a handful of outstanding points, Jaishankar declined to reveal specifics. He also stressed that the strategic partnership between the two nations remains unchanged despite the ongoing negotiations.
Why it matters
The deal could reshape market access and tariff rules for two major economies and influence global trade dynamics.
