India bloc MPs press President Murmu to scrap recent state elections

A group of India bloc parliamentarians met President Droupadi Murmu and asked her to annul all assembly elections held in the past two years, while also targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Leaders of the India bloc gathered with President Murmu in New Delhi, submitting a memorandum that calls for the cancellation of every state assembly poll conducted over the last two years. The delegation also intensified its criticism of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. After the meeting, Congress figure Rahul Gandhi expressed surprise at the President’s response, noting he had expected her to deny any vote-theft allegations. The demands reflect growing opposition pressure on the election administration.
