India disburses Rs 36,754 crore in incentives as PLI schemes spur investment and jobs
By June 30 2026, the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) programmes have generated Rs 2.58 lakh crore in investment, Rs 23.79 lakh crore in sales, and Rs 15.53 lakh crore in exports, while disbursing Rs 36,754 crore in incentives.
Since their 2020 launch, the Production-Linked Incentive schemes covering 14 key sectors have mobilised Rs 2.58 lakh crore of investment against an approved outlay of Rs 1.91 lakh crore. By the end of June 2026, the programmes have recorded Rs 23.79 lakh crore in production or sales and Rs 15.53 lakh crore in exports, while generating more than 14.57 lakh direct and indirect jobs. Cumulative incentive disbursements total Rs 36,754 crore.
The pharmaceutical segment alone posted sales exceeding Rs 3.64 lakh crore, and technology-transfer projects with Siemens, Wipro, GE and Philips have enabled local production of advanced medical devices. Global electronics brands such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS and HPE are now manufacturing AI servers and components in India. In specialty steel, companies including JSW, Jindal Odisha, Tata Steel and AMNS have invested over Rs 19,000 crore to supply value-added steel for various industries. Additionally, the DPIIT introduced an online portal for e-Production Investment Business visas, streamlining sponsorship for foreign professionals.
