India Energy Week 2027 to tackle oil market volatility and boost global energy security

The Union ministry of petroleum and natural gas confirmed that India Energy Week 2027 will take place in Kolkata between Jan. 28 and Jan. 31, marking the first time the summit is hosted in the city. The five-day gathering will concentrate on practical responses to the tightening global oil market, which has been destabilised by the war in West Asia and forthcoming U.S. tariffs on Russian oil imports. According to the ministry, the conference will showcase technologies, innovations and partnerships needed to secure affordable and sustainable energy, with a particular focus on the needs of Global South countries.

Union petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri noted that despite international pressures, Indian households have not experienced shortages, thanks to diversified supply sources, expanded refining capacity, extensive pipeline networks, storage facilities and policy reforms. He highlighted that India holds roughly 80 days of oil reserves across strategic stores, pipelines, refineries and transit stocks. The event is expected to draw more than 75,000 energy professionals and over 700 international exhibitors, providing a platform for decision-makers to advance the sector's future.
