India government accepts LIC MD Dinesh Pant's voluntary retirement

The Government of India approved Dinesh Pant's voluntary retirement from his role as managing director of Life Insurance Corporation of India, effective September 24, 2026.

On Friday, the Government of India formally accepted Dinesh Pant’s request to retire voluntarily from his post as managing director of Life Insurance Corporation of India. Pant, who had been named a whole-time member (actuary) of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India in June 2026, was relieved of his duties at LIC effective at the close of September 24, 2026. In addition to losing the managing director title, he also stepped down as chair of the Information Technology Strategy Committee and as a member of both the Executive Committee and the Investment Committee.

LIC’s exchange filing confirmed that his departure was due to the voluntary retirement decision. The move initiates a leadership transition at the nation’s largest insurer.
