India hikes aviation turbine fuel by ₹16 per litre and commercial LPG by ₹62.50
Domestic airline jet fuel rose to ₹137 per litre, up ₹16, while commercial LPG prices increased by ₹62.50 per 19-kg cylinder.
India's state-run oil companies announced a new tariff for aviation turbine fuel, setting the price for domestic airlines at ₹137 per litre, which is ₹16 higher than before. This follows a series of incremental increases, including a ₹6.28 rise in September and a ₹5 hike in August, underscoring the fuel's growing share of airline operating costs. In parallel, commercial LPG rates for businesses were lifted by ₹62.50 per 19-kg cylinder, reversing earlier monthly reductions of ₹192 and ₹183.50 in July and August.
The adjustments are tied to shifts in global benchmark prices and fluctuations in the rupee-dollar rate. Domestic cooking gas prices stayed at ₹942 per 14.2-kg cylinder, and petrol and diesel prices were unchanged. These revisions will take effect on the first day of the month and may vary across states due to local taxes.
Why it matters
Higher jet fuel and LPG costs increase operating expenses for airlines and businesses, potentially affecting travel prices and economic activity.
