India logged its highest annual foreign direct investment ever at $94.53 billion for FY 2025-26, taking cumulative inflows since 2014 to $843 billion, while PLI schemes have driven massive investment and job creation.
On September 25, marking the 12th anniversary of the Make in India campaign, officials reported that India achieved a historic $94.53 billion in foreign direct investment for FY 2025-26, raising the cumulative FDI received since FY 2014-15 to $843 billion. Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have so far secured Rs 2.40 lakh crore in actual investment, spurred Rs 23.8 lakh crore in production and sales, and contributed Rs 15.2 lakh crore to exports.
These schemes have also generated over 14.6 lakh direct and indirect jobs across key sectors such as electronics, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automobiles, IT hardware and specialty steel. The government highlighted that industrial smart cities are being built nationwide under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme to bolster globally competitive manufacturing. The data underscores the growing attractiveness of India’s market and the impact of policy incentives on investment and employment.
