India issues health alert over unregistered Pakistani beauty creams with high heavy-metal levels

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation released a public health notice stating that Goree beauty cream and Chandni whitening cream, both produced in Lahore, lack the mandatory import registration certificate for sale in India and exceed permissible heavy-metal limits. These items were discovered on major online marketplaces, where they were occasionally presented as Indian-made and without clear manufacturer details.

Following the regulator's alert, platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Tata 1mg and Snapdeal began delisting the products. The CDSCO has cautioned retailers, distributors and individuals against selling, distributing or promoting the creams and has called on enforcement agencies to ensure compliance. Experts highlighted gaps in e-commerce monitoring and warned that similar products might be routed through third-country hubs like the UAE or Nepal to evade regulations.
