India launches a decade-long defence diplomacy plan to boost global security ties

At a special event in New Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released the ‘RAKSHA’ framework, a ten-year plan designed to expand India’s global defence and security collaborations. The strategy rests on four pillars: deepening bilateral and multilateral partnerships, expanding joint exercises and training, promoting Make-in-India defence products, and strengthening maritime security to act as a net security provider in the Indian Ocean.

Officials such as Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and senior service chiefs were present. The ministry described the roadmap as a clear, actionable vision that ties national security to proactive international cooperation. The announcement came a day after India and Belgium concluded extensive talks, signing several MoUs on defence industrial cooperation. Singh highlighted the importance of such partnerships amid a turbulent geopolitical environment.
