India lifts commercial LPG and airline fuel prices on September 1
Effective September 1, commercial LPG cylinders and aviation turbine fuel rates were raised across India, ending two months of reductions.
From September 1, India’s commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were revised upward. A 19-kg LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,747.50, up Rs 9.50, and the 5-kg free-trade LPG cylinder increased by Rs 2 to Rs 764. ATF for domestic airlines rose by Rs 6.28 per litre, or 5.46%, reaching Rs 121.28, after a Rs 5 per litre hike in August.
The changes reverse two straight months of LPG cuts and mirror rises in global benchmark rates and currency movements. Domestic LPG pricing remained unchanged at Rs 942 for a 14.2-kg cylinder, and fuel taxes continue to vary by state. The hikes are expected to raise operating costs for airlines and businesses such as restaurants and hotels.
