India prepares Parliament halls for 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum with cultural showcase

The Indian Parliament’s Central and Library Halls will host the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum next week, featuring discussions on ethical AI, governance reform and cultural displays.

The Parliament complex in New Delhi is being readied to host the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, with the Central Hall scheduled for October 26-27 and the historic Library Hall, once the Chamber of Princes, transformed into an event space for the first time. Speaker Om Birla has organized a programme that includes a Culture Bazar showcasing artisans from Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, as well as banquets hosted by him and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the gathering, and bilateral meetings are planned between Birla and his counterparts. The forum will focus on themes such as ethical digital transformation, global governance reform, parliamentary diplomacy and sustainability, aiming to produce a joint declaration. Delegates from the eleven BRICS nations and ten partner countries are slated to attend, with guided tours of Parliament, New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur also arranged.

Why it matters
