India protests Pakistani naval ship collision in international waters, summons diplomats

India lodged a formal protest after a Pakistani naval vessel collided with an Indian Navy ship in international waters, summoning Pakistan's diplomatic representative in New Delhi.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, a Pakistani naval unit struck an Indian Navy vessel while both were operating in international waters, though the incident resulted in only minor damage. India asserted that the Pakistani ship's actions breached Article 10 of the 1991 bilateral agreement requiring prior notification of military exercises and movements. The ministry summoned the Charge d'Affaires of the High Commission for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in New Delhi and lodged a strong protest over what it described as unacceptable and unprofessional conduct.

India also directed its Charge d'Affaires in Islamabad to file a matching protest with Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides were urged to adhere to existing agreements to prevent future incidents.

The incident tests compliance with long-standing India-Pakistan naval protocols and could affect future maritime security cooperation.
